Welcome to Doris Gallery

I could always hear about gender discrimination at school, even though I have not experienced it by myself; as a girl, I can relate to it. I have heard my classmates tell me that one university requires a much higher standard of recruitment for female candidates than for male candidates. This recruitment rule was actually the default rule at that school. I felt distressed by this after I heard the story. Currently, due to the impact of COVID-19, we are not on track to achieving gender equality. As UNSDG said: “Women and girls remain disproportionately affected, struggling with lost jobs and livelihoods, derailed education, increased burdens of unpaid care work and domestic violence”(2022, United Nations, para. 1). Recently, there has been news of women being beaten in the street, girls being sexually harassed, and even women being killed. Therefore, We should take action to further protect women's rights and interests.
When I was in middle school, we always discussed the issue of overpopulation. The overpopulation problem has become a social issue that needs to be urgently addressed in my country. Overpopulation can lead to numerous issues such as energy consumption, inadequate food supplies, an ageing population and insufficient land resources - increased environmental pollution. The impacts of continued global deforestation, land and ecosystem degradation and biodiversity loss due to real estate development influence significant risks to human survival and sustainable development. Significant risks to human survival and sustainable development are influenced by ongoing global deforestation, degradation of land and ecosystems, and biodiversity loss due to real estate development. However, by adhering to the UNSDG's goal number 15, we should safeguard, restore, and encourage the sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems (United Nations, 2022). We can also connect the environmental pollution case to the Kaitiakitanga based on the conventional Maori worldview.
Future Diary
With the ringing of the alarm clock, I open my eyes. The alarm tells the time automatically: “It’s 7:00 in the morning; please get up now!” I put the bed into massage mode so my parents and I could lie on it and feel a professional massage that would help get me out of bed. At the same time, the automatic breakfast-making machine has already prepared the breakfast that I selected on the app the last night - coffee, baking bread with peanut butter and fruits. Then I put on the clothes that my wardrobe helped me to match. After I dress myself up, I have to go to work. My new transportation tool is a flying carpet. It can fly through the air, and I don't have to worry about traffic; I just whistle, and it comes over. And the most important thing is that the fly carpet does not pollute the environment by emitting exhaust fumes because our society's environmental problems are getting worse. At 8:00, I arrive at my company. My company is built in a sky garden due to our world is becoming more and more densely populated. The land is used for real estate development, and there is less and less greenery, leading to severe environmental pollution. I am currently working as a journalist and am still trying to develop my research on social issues. So far, the social problems I have found with my team are the ageing population, serious environmental pollution, food problems, energy consumption and land resource depletion. The people I work with are very nice because there is no gender discrimination in our company; everyone is equal. During the weekend, I usually go to “Escape Room” with my friend - Immersive Escape Game. But what I liked most was being with my parents and being able to go to another country without taking a plane. Because we can just lie on a bed and connect to the machine, the machine allows us to simulate going anywhere without worrying about COVID-19.
