Exploring worldviews

Speculative design is not about predicting or solving problems but about reconstructing our view of the future from the perspective of today's society's environmental, political, and cultural issues. For example, people with disabilities in the community may face huge problems and injustices; pluriversal designers must focus on their needs and impairments to discuss and design. The speculative design has inspired me to think that creation comes from imagination and that only an unrestricted mind can create inventions that will benefit the world. In the world we were born into, the earlier generations established the rules of our lives. For instance, people with disabilities are discriminated against, and people unconsciously worship those in power and despise those without power. However, we can break the rules, simulate and evolve in our minds the way the world will work in the future, and move the world into a brighter future.

In the case study of "Cybele", the designer focuses on the social issue of women being mistreated in society because of having children. The designers were concerned with the social problem of women being mistreated in society for having children. They proposed an asexual approach to reproduction that would allow parents to take turns feeling the hard work of pregnancy and sharing the responsibility. The design aims to provoke discussion and reflection on the need for pregnancy to be shared between men and women and to call for the protection of women's rights.

The pluriversal worldview resonates with my perspective. Different ethnic or social groups in a shared society where they autonomously participate and develop their own traditional culture is the ideal state of social development. In my first blog(Future Diary), I mentioned that there is no sexism or racism in my working environment—everyone is equal.

Therefore, the pluriversal design approach inspired me to move from "the future of transportation" to the design direction of an egalitarian society. I will discuss how different communities respect each other, there is no gender discrimination, and all people are equal.

In exploring the vision of indigenous futurism, I found the example of "Black Panther." It breaks our stereotypes of Africa because the movie embodies the UN's Sustainable Development Goals—it depicts an Africa with gender equality, no hunger or poverty, health, and clean energy. This inspires me to reimagine my life in 2037.

In my imaginary 2037, the water in my home is filtered and recycled; the electricity is sustainable and pollution-free; the air outside my window is fresh, and the flowers and trees are fragrant with the unique scent of plants.

The food that we eat comes from nature, and there are no additives, so there is no malnutrition among children. In addition, poverty or hunger will not occur in any country. Gender is equal in all my work environments; women do not die from having children. Furthermore, the world is free of COVID-19 and infectious diseases.

In terms of the environment, the Earth and natural resources can be protected sustainably; people can live underwater and on all planets in the universe.

My three topics are still "future of urban planning for overpopulated regions", "future of discrimination" and "future of personal transportation". I will focus on "The future of Workplace Gender Politics in the Workplace." My choice of title was inspired by speculative design, and there has been considerable recent news about the discrimination and injustice women face in the workplace. Also, there is a driving factor from my family - my mum. When my mum had my brother, she experienced many negative reactions to pregnancy, including memory loss, loss of body shape, and difficulties with employment in the workplace. Therefore, I would like to explore gender discrimination and use different design approaches to analyse this social problem.
